ABOUT GRANT'S TRAIL
The Ulysses S. Grant Trail (Grant's Trail) is an 8 mile long "rails to trails" bike trail stretching through
south and southwest St. Louis County, Missouri.
As a former railroad right of way, Grant's Trail is flat and perfect for biking,
running, inline skating, walking, or cross-country skiing.

EXTENSION PLANS
In addition to newly-added extension into Kirkwood,
there are long-term plans to extend the
eastern end of the trail to the River Des Peres. No
word on when. An extension into Clydesdale Park
was added in 2005.

NO TRAINS ON GRANT'S TRAIL=
Back in 2004 we reported that MetroLink was considering an expansion route that would take
over part of Grant's Trail. Now it looks like we won't
have to give up part of our trail to MetroLink after all.
They have narrowed the list of potential South County routes,
and the Grant's Trail route has been dropped! Two of the three
remaining routes would cross Grant's Trail, expanding the
commuting and travel options of Trail users.
MetroLink may or may not ever expand beyond its most recent extension,
but at least we won't have to worry about losing the trail to it.
